One obvious use of kettles would be that it can help produce steam, without needing too much water.
Teakettles
The teakettle was initially used for seeping tea leaves (making tea). The water can be warmed, and then poured into separate tea cups in which tea is added. The tea can also flow in the teakettle itself. Also, many other drinks including hot chocolate can also be made.
Teakettles are used rather than other methods (such as mugs) because of various reasons. Firstly, they have a bigger capacity than mugs, hence saving both time and effort when warming water. Secondly, teakettles are good conductors of heat, enabling the water to remain warm for a long period. Thirdly, they have handles that do not retain heat and hence, lowering the chance of scalding oneself unlike the mug.
Teakettles can also be used in other ways. Firstly, they can be made into flowerpots as decorations. Teakettles, especially steel ones with vintage appearances, look delightful with a bouquet of small flowers coming from the top. They are best for silk flowers as the opening of the kettle makes it hard to grow flowers. Teakettles make for great displays during mealtimes. Also, if they are decorative pieces, some people use them as a conversation piece.
Secondly, teakettles make exemplary containers for potpourri. One example would be to fill the kettles with potpourri, and place it at the kitchen table to display. Another would be to use them to make a simmering fragrance that will fill the house with a pleasant smell. It can be done by mixing sweet-smelling spices, water and heating the kettle, followed by the adding of potpourri, and the result is a sweet scent.
Thirdly, teakettles are sometimes used as a small-scale watering can for small houseplants. By leaving them near the plants everyday, we are able to pour water into the pot when the kettle is filled with water.
